merlot.aero Announces Dana Knight As New VP
Auckland, New Zealand: Airline operations technology company, merlot.aero, has appointed industry veteran Dana Knight as its Vice President Americas.
He brings significant industry experience to merlot.aero's North American operations, boosting the company’s in-country capabilities and resources, says merlot.aero CEO and President Mark McCaughan.
"Dana will be a sound and well experienced lynchpin for our continued expansion there, and our customers will benefit from his knowledge and understanding of mission critical software and airline crew operations in particular.”
Mr McCaughan says Dana Knight’s appointment underlines merlot.aero’s commitment to the US market, by adding capable, market-experienced resources
Dana is a former commercial pilot, who flew for a regional airline in the north east United States. He moved to inside operations, becoming Director of Systems Operations Control, managing crew and the daily operations for the airline.
Since leaving the airlines he has been working for an aviation software firm where he has held various positions in customer support and product management.
Prior to joining merlot.aero in April, he held the position of Solution Director, managing the NextGen and SESAR ATC engagements along with the launch of an EFB product.
"I am excited to be involved with a young agile company looking to make a positive impact on a sector of the marketplace that is in need of new and fresh ideas. Merlot.aero is a customer focused company offering products and services that the industry wants and needs,” he says.
Dana views the industry moving away from locally installed applications as airlines seek to reduce their IT spend on hardware and have applications delivered via the cloud, so that they are available anywhere at anytime.
It is a perfect time for Merlot to be expanding in the Americas, he says, with merlot.aero’s products a sound fit for airline operations from small, almost boutique operators through to large, international jet fleets.
